The Wrong Side of the Bed

"The wrong side of the bed is the left side, according to a superstition that goes back to the time of the Romans. People have been saying other people 'got up on the wrong side of the bed,' 'awoke surly or grouchy,' for well over three centuries now, usually not knowing the real meaning of what they are saying, but the equally old expression 'got up left foot forward' tells the story. The supposedly sinister nature of the left is reflected in many English superstitions and expressions, such as the belief that it is unlucky to put your left shoe first, or to walk into a house left foot first. The Romans, especially Augustus Caesar, were very careful that they got up on the right side of the bed, but there is no evidence that they were less grouchy than anyone else." Hi, my name is Sandra. I live in Summerville, SC, USA. I'm 63, divorced & mother of two sons. I live alone with my cat, Buddy, in a split home with my oldest son. We still have our privacy, but it is nice to have him near. My youngest son also lives nearby and is helpful too. Both of them blesses me in so many ways. I have two grandchildren, an 18 year old girl and a ten year old boy. I was about 50 when the picture was taken. Older now, with more wrinkles, and I think more wisdom.

Elbow & Etc.

Cast and staples off the elbow and I'm able to type with both hands again. It still painful and I'm having muscles spasms, but I will endure and I'm sure I will have full use of the arm in a few weeks.

4th is tomorrow and Gerri has invited me to the party at Pat's, but I probably won't go because of this stupid arm. Another 4th alone. Boo-hoo. John is going to Folly Beach with Kevin. Jamie probably going to his campground. Alysa off with her friends. When the kids were small the 4th was a big deal, but now it's just another day for me.

My sons are good to me when I need them, but I wish we could have more family togetherness. As I've said to myself and to others : they are grown now and have their own lives so I can not expect them to include me in their activities.

Alysa doesn't respond to me on Facebook and this bothers me. But she is only 18 and is concerned with her friends and not with her old granny.

I guess I'm sorta down today and this is being reflected in this post. This is my diary and I can reflect my moods as I see fit.

I really want to get better from all the stuff that has happened to me since October!! The right foot is still not right and I feel ill most days. I so want to have a life again.

Buddy brings joy to my life and I enjoy the osh_pro list and facebook and I think I can get back to Yahoo answers now. I want to be able to sell my collection of glass so I can buy another cat. I'd like one from 7th heaven. All of this is alone type stuff and I would like to get out among people again so I can relate in real life.
