typing with one hand since surgery on june 18. have endured pain and 2 casts since then. staples will be removed on thursday and yet another cast! no improvement yet in the numbness in my fingers, but the doctor did say it would take awhile. yet more braces for my legs on the 7-28. maybe this will help me walk without seeming to be drunk. have night braces, but i can't wear them because they are so cumbersome. so i just keep feet from pointing down by using pillows to keep the feet from pointing down ballerina-wise. this ordeal has been going on since 10-08, but i'm steadily getting better. back to the neurologist on the 22nd and see what he says about improvements. probably not much. since he doesn't know what caused critical illness polyneuropathy. i am thankful that i can walk again, as that was a nightmare that i didn't know would end. thank god, it did.
The Wrong Side of the Bed
"The wrong side of the bed is the left side, according to a superstition that goes back to the time of the Romans. People have been saying other people 'got up on the wrong side of the bed,' 'awoke surly or grouchy,' for well over three centuries now, usually not knowing the real meaning of what they are saying, but the equally old expression 'got up left foot forward' tells the story. The supposedly sinister nature of the left is reflected in many English superstitions and expressions, such as the belief that it is unlucky to put your left shoe first, or to walk into a house left foot first. The Romans, especially Augustus Caesar, were very careful that they got up on the right side of the bed, but there is no evidence that they were less grouchy than anyone else." From "Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins" by Robert Hendrickson
Hi, my name is Sandra. I live in Summerville, SC, USA. I'm 63, divorced & mother of two sons. I live alone with my cat, Buddy, in a split home with my oldest son. We still have our privacy, but it is nice to have him near. My youngest son also lives nearby and is helpful too. Both of them blesses me in so many ways. I have two grandchildren, an 18 year old girl and a ten year old boy. I was about 50 when the picture was taken. Older now, with more wrinkles, and I think more wisdom.

Had a long talk with Karen yesterday and I've decided to visit Ricky and Butch after my elbow surgery (Thursday) and some recoup time. I'm anxious about this, but I feel it is something that I must do. Actually, it's something I want to do. Anyone that knows me and what my family has gone through will understand why I'm nervous about this.
I was distressed to learn about Karen's health problems. She is so young, only 37, and is having health problems that I did not have until my 50's. I'm sad that I've lost contact with my family members, but I have to avoid all the drama to conserve my sanity. Maybe enough time has passed. I'm delighted that April sent me a kiss on facebook and we chatted via e-mail. It sounds as though she is doing well and is trying to adopt a baby.
